NRA Personal Protection in the Home is an intensive course involving classroom instruction and range sessions. The course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and provides information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense. Students must possess some prior basic knowledge and skills. Completion of the NRA Basic Pistol course or possession of a Maine concealed carry permit fulfill those criteria, but neither is required. If unsure about eligibility, please contact Rob Cody at the email address below.
The course will be taught by NRA-certified instructors, and a Piscataquis County Law Enforcement Officer.
Pre-registration is required. Class size is limited to 18. Students are encouraged to use their personal self-defense handguns, but we will provide a variety of handguns students may use. Students must bring eye and ear protection and, at minimum, 100 rounds of practice ammunition. We further recommend students bring snacks, hydration, and a lunch. The fee is $80. Registration deadline is August 17, 2024.To register or for questions please email Rob Cody, at rcrscody@gmail.com
